Rotator cuff tears are a common cause of shoulder pain and disability. While most tears are due chronic wear in middle-aged and older patients, they can also be caused by trauma in younger patients. Patients usually complain of shoulder pain to the top and side of their shoulder and report difficulty with overhead activities. Dr. Navin Subramanian operates Orthopaedic Associates LLP in Bellaire, the oldest ongoing orthopedic group in Houston. He says most spinal conditions can be treated without surgery, but when it is necessary, he performs them at Humble Surgical Hospital. “I at-tempt to use the least-invasive techniques available,” he said. “This generally allows most patients a quicker return to both work and enjoyable activities.”
Dr. Alan Rechter has successfully completed three, first of a kind, outpatient Total Joint replacement surgeries at OakBend Health System’s Metro Ortho and Spine Surgery Center. Until fairly recently, outpatient Total Joint replacements were rare. Now, because of advances in anesthesia, pain control and surgical techniques, outpatient Total Joint replacements are becoming a viable option for many patients.
Humble Surgical Hospital’s Dr. Gregory Harvey was recently featured on FOX-26 TV’s morning news Health Watch. He discussed orthopedic needs for runners in conjunction with the marathon and half marathon that took place over the weekend in Houston. This was a wonderful opportunity to share news with the greater Houston area about our hospital and we thank Dr. Harvey for taking the time to participate in the program.
