Dr. Plinio (Tony) Caldera is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon who joined Orthopaedic Associates, LLP in August of 2009. Dr. Caldera has a special interest in arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery, knee and hip joint replacement and Trauma.

Dr. Caldera spent 5 years in solo practice at Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital in Houston, Texas prior to joining Orthopaedic Associates, LLP.
Born in Managua, Nicaragua, Dr. Caldera believed Orthopaedic Associates’s diverse patient base would be a perfect fit for his unique skills. “I always try to stay with conservative treatment if at all possible and exhaust all other options before performing surgery”, states Dr. Caldera.
After attending Pepperdine University in Los Angeles, California, he moved to Houston in 1984 to attend The University of Houston and finish his undergraduate degree. In 1988 he graduated from Baylor College of Medicine Physician Assistant program and worked as an assistant in Orthopaedic Surgery until 1992.
Working as an Orthopaedic assistant fueled Dr. Caldera’s passion for helping patients recover from Orthopaedic trauma. In 1992 he went back to medical school and in 1996 he graduated from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston as a member of the highly distinguished Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Dr. Caldera went on to finish his Orthopaedic residency at Texas A&M-Scott White Memorial Hospital in 2001, including a trauma rotation at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston.
Dr. Caldera is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a member of the Texas Medical Association, the Harris County Medical Society and the Hispanic American Medical Association.
In his spare time Dr. Caldera enjoys jogging, basketball and spending time with his wife and 3 children.
